Confirming Pregnancy

Ultrasound can confirm pregnancy from day 25–28. Blood tests can also detect relaxin hormone. Our clinic offers pregnancy confirmations and calculates the expected whelping date.

Nutrition During Pregnancy

From week 5 onward, increase food intake gradually to 1.5–2x normal. Switch to a high-quality puppy food for better caloric density. Avoid calcium supplements during pregnancy — excessive calcium can cause eclampsia after birth.

Preparing for Whelping

Prepare a quiet whelping box in a warm room (28–30°C). Gather clean towels, a bulb syringe, and our emergency number. Most dogs whelp without assistance, but we're available for consultations throughout the process.
